The leader of the rebel spat on the ground. "Pah, it's just as likely you marched here just to draw us out. Bastards! You'll--"

"Wait!" A voice called out from the other side of the stone wall marking out the church's grounds. "Don't do it!" A young man, no more than 16, had boosted himself to the metal fence on top of the wall and was looking through the gaps in the bars. "Conrad Valdor has asked to meet with the knights in the morning! Kill them and everything could go wrong!"

The leader paused. "So, what am I supposed to do with this lot? And the city guard down the road?"

The young man shrugged. "See what they want?"

There was a moment of silence. Finally, turning back to the Dragon retinue, he said, "So..."guardians of peace" was it? I thought the Dragons preferred Ravenstern."
______

As Klaus waited, he thought for a moment that he had seen something in the shadows outside of the circle, but another look caused it to vanish. Nights like this often played tricks on the eyes.

[OOC: Darn, Klaus almost saw the Guantlet...oh well.]

"Guardians of peace? nay, but Ravenstern flourished where other regions didn't. It's time we repay the peace that Pendor has given us and honor an eternal debt to King Mordred the first. That's why we're here to help those who deserve better, that's why we came to help the common man in Windholm."

Aelos spoke calmly and ignored the whole paranoia about a possible trap. There was enough space next to him for Alatin to join the conversation if the Thane wanted to.

"People are people whether from Ravenstern or from Pendor, and the ultimate responsibility of any leader is to help and better their people. We have come to help and to aid the people of Windholm create peace and end chaos."

The Thane bowed slightly and then went silent, hoping for the best.

Klaus glanced at the shadows of the night, sweeping his gaze around the area and alert to movement. He took a look at his companions to see if they had noticed anything but all had their eyes fixed on the torches around the Dragons in the distance. Being a soldier he knew the worst thing was waiting, but his training had prepared him well for it, and he attempted to make no outside gesture of his discomfort. To the careful observer however, it was clear that he was a little nervous about what would happen next.

[Continued from Alleys of Windholm]

Rivatha watched the castle for a few minutes more, deep in her thoughts, and then decided to go to tavern. Rivatha found 3 of her gloves already there. Rivatha inspected everyone in tavern, making sure her glance doesn't stop at her subordinates. Then she came to Bar keeper, and asked loudly enough.

"I am searching for man and woman both in Armors with unicorn on them"

After noticing bar keepers confused look, Rivatha nodded with sign of disappointment and left the tavern.

Then Rivatha left the tavern, and after few minutes Mortimer and Miriam left the Tavern as well.

Rivatha and her Gloves met few hundred of meters outside of tavern
"Here is what we gonna do..."

[Castle entrance]

Miriam run up to castle gate guards with scared expression and screams "Help Bandits"

During the steady march toward the Dragons, Gilaver stayed silent in contemplation. This was rather normal behaviour for him but it unnerved his subordinates slightly, how he didn't even look in front of him, yet could keep his place within the formation. They decided to leave the commander alone, believing he might be creating a strategy for this mission.

They were wrong, but that was irrevelant.

Gilaver stopped with the rest of the captain's guard. His attention turned to the all-too familiar Dragon talking to the captain. He took in the conversation before ordering his troops to join the defensive formation. 4 of the knights joined Klaus' greatswords while Gilaver's liutenant stood with him. Seeing that this was a potential battle he sharpened his senses for any potential threats.

*OOC: Would Gilaver also have a chance to spot the Gauntlet?

The man regarded the Dragons for a bit longer. "We'll see," he finally said, his skepticism only chipped. "You want to earn our trust? Start by calling off your dogs." He nodded to the guard and Griffon detachment not far down the road.

He turned, but added over his shoulder. "If Valdor wants to meet with you, you should wait until then to make it known. Jorm wouldn't take kindly to you running to us now."
______

The guards regarded Miriam for a moment as she explained that a man had been attacked. They decided to follow; it seemed like a bad idea to let an attack happen so near the castle. Using the gap her woman had opened for her, Rivatha began to ascend the stairs. Unfortunately, her path up was exposed and she was seen long before she reached the top. Several steps from the guards above her, they ordered her to halt.

"You are much too arrogant for a common man." Aelos said with a loud voice, making clear to his men that the time to draw swords might be closer than expected. Though none showed it openly.

"Have you not heard a thing we've told you? We were here to help you, not Jorm, Greysword or a puffed up merchant. Would you really risk a Dragon's fury by refusing and insulting him right when his fury can not be stopped.."

His words weren't as loud this time, but Aelos was aware his words could make the situation a lot worse, so he was prepared for almost anything.

If the Thane could see Aelos' eyes, he'd see a spark of irritation after he spoke his whispered words. Aelos' jaw moved as if to speak, but his lips were sealed, clearly having trouble restraining a loud remark to the normally proud Thane.

Despite this, he moved his left arm up to make an apologetic gesture to his commander.. or was it to make sure Icebreath could be drawn without having the delay of moving his left arm to make space for his right?

William nodded at Aelos, He did not like this situation. There was too much that he still needed to accomplish in this city before returning to Rane.

"My good man, we are not here to earn anything. As my brother here said we have come here to help you and I would not think it wise to reject us."

"Pah, you knights are too arrogant for your own good!" The man rolled his eyes at the knights' assumptions. "No one is rejecting you, but you must also earn our trust. You have been to the castle; for all any of us knows, you could just as easily be working for the Duchess. And you will see us in the morning should you meet with Valdor. You join us now and Jorm will act."
______

Rivatha's plea fell on deaf ears. "Do you not see the time, woman? If the guards below were doing their jobs, they would have told you the same: return in the morning."

"Unless you can think of something that does not invole swords, or bloodshed then I suggest you keep yer mouth shut and calmly obey the stupid mule of a man."

The Thanes anger was evident, few things angered him more than a peasant telling him what to do. The fact that Aelos was encouraging him to "make an example" of the people was not helping. Aelos knew that Williams bloodrage was more severe than most men he knew.

"Very well" Aelos said, afraid he'd actually awaken the Thane's infamous fury

"Dragons, the church!"

Immediatly they spurred their horses towards the nearby church, but Aelos caught himself hoping that arrogant commoner would throw himself in front of the horses as they rode passed.

William spurred and turned his horse, he cared nothing for the peasants, especially not ones who need to learn their place.

"Aelos, what do you think the church will contain that we should be prepared for before hand?"

As the returning Dragons drew close to Jorm's position, the captain called out to them. "Is all well, then?"

At the other end of the formation, Klaus was certain he had seen something moving in the shadows this time.

The guard shook his head at Rivatha's words. "Is that so? Then you can bring it to the guard post below."

Something shifted in the shadows, catching Klaus's eye. Although not sure what the movement was, he was sure that there was something there. Working hard to appear unconcerned, he nudged Sir John who stood beside him, and walked towards the group of men nearest the disturbance, feigning interest in their position and preparations, but really he was using this movement as cover to examine the disturbed area more closely hoping to catch sight of something more solid while not leaving the defensive perimeter and nor starling the hidden thing.

A moment later, Sir John followed his commander warily, thinking that Klaus wanted to point something out to him.

"Well indeed" William spat and looked around at Jorms men

"We are heading to the Church of Astraea, and I cordially invite you to join us." There was a hint of sarcasm or maybe venom, and with that he turned and continued towards the church
