| You all fail.
Seleucia would be in the city now, if I weren't holding back for my possible GMness.
She'd have sold transportation for the small fee of all your left over renown.

Isn't that kind of pointless?

| Well who knows what you might be up too ^^. Also 9 people in dark robes look rather strange, and attract way to much attention.(When you think about it, shouldn't have shown off my Ebony Gloves near the gates.. ohh but well to late now) | |

| They can't go inside anyway, I'm pretty sure the point of the captain saying representatives was that we go in but our men don't. So if they try your just gonna end up fighting the entire city and 3/4 of the orders here . | |

| Nope. The Orders are entering the city, but representatives must go the Duchess and 'splain why what is effectively a fairly powerful army has just arrived at her gate. | |

| They need a new guard captain then lol,
All I have to do is march an army up to the gate then wait a couple hours and he'll let me in.
If I had control of this army I coud take the whole city now without a fight.

| I dont think this qualifies as an army if at the slightest provocation everyone tries to kill everyone else. | |

| Someone assumes far too easily, Mesor.
Wait until my next post is up. The representatives will be brought before the Duchess at the end.

| You know, I've been wondering something.
It's obvious to me that the Mettenheimers have a German influence to them, just as the Vanskerrys do a Nordic one. But I was thinking, and looking at the wiki, but it does not really say or give a feeling as to what the Barclayans are. And seeing as I have 2 Barclay Conquistadors in my characters party I would like their names to make sense.
So.... going by the word "Conquistador" I was thinking they seem to be based loosely on the Spanish. What do you guys think?

| They *Are* based upon the Spanish. Use that as a base for dealing with them.
And Mettenheim is as much Dutch influenced as German. As I'm sure Mordred would be quick to point out.

EDIT: Or...I can be ninja'ed by someone who knows more stuff than me. That's cool too, forum.

| Mettenheim are Dutch/Germanic, so imagine the region around Friesland and Oldenburg.
Barclay are Spanish in culture, but French in hierarchy (powerful and fragmented nobles, with a weak central king). They are quite centralised, its just that the high nobility have quite a bit of power / influence over the crown. I guess they are actually quite similar to pre-Unification Pendor, but with a central king having some authority over them all (the role Ulrich and Sarleon was meant to have, but never could quite manage) and with far more interest in colonial expansion.

| Oh, on that note Mordred...
I took the opportunity of advancing the timeline 100 years to make Barclay a proto-absolutist state (Still think New Monarchy, I suppose?). The nobles still hold considerable sway, but the Crown holds nearly all formal power. The monarch no longer has any real feudal obligation to the nobility. Given the nature of a vast overseas empire this probably isn't universal across all colonies, but on the traditional mainland...
Lady Greysword was quite taken with these ideas.

| I think that works well, I never quite understood how Barclay was able to grow quite so much when back home their social structure was that fragmented. Luck, content nobles, and wise rulers, I guess. | |

| Is it OK if I switch Strong for Endurance trait? It fits better with Klaus's character so far. Endurance basically means that he has exceptional stamina, and can go on even when many others have collapsed with fatigue. | |
