So I already knew the Azi Dahaka thing, but Arcanum's post made me a bit curious and I looked it up, relying on the wonderful Wikipedia. There weren't many sources for this, so I'd take everything with a grain of salt, but what I did find was pretty interesting.
Azi Dahaka, or Dahag for short, was some sort of evil Azi, described as a monster with 3 mouths, six eyes, and three heads, cunning, strong and evil. Dahaka had all the evil sins possible, and did some pretty bad things (such as cutting up a hero in half with a saw with help from Dahag's brother). However, the interesting part comes later:
Dahāka is said to have ruled for a thousand years, starting from 100 years after Jam lost his xvarənah, his royal glory (see Jamshid). Described as a sorcerer who ruled with the aid of demons, the daevas (divs).I was curious as to who Jam was, so when I searched him up, it just told me about his dynasty. Jam was the fourth king of the Pishdadian dynasty, the first Aryan dynasty in Iran. He ruled for like 700 years, but somewhere in the middle, he lost his royal glory and began to demand people worship him as the Creator (basically he just became arrogant). 100 years after Jam lost his glory, Dahaka took power. It gets even more interesting, as there was a hero who finally defeated Dahaka. Freydun, is the name of an Iranian mythical king and hero who is an emblem of victory, justice and generosity in the Persian literature. According to Ferdowsi’s Shāhnāmeh, Fereydun was the son of Ābtīn,
one of descendants of Jamshid. Fereydun, together with Kaveh, revolted against the tyrannical king “Zahhāk”, defeated and arrested him in the Alborz Mountains. Afterwards Fereydun became the king and, according to the myth, ruled the country for about 500 years.
Frēdōn is said to have been endowed with the divine radiance of kings from birth. and was able to defeat Dahāg at the age of nine, striking him on shoulder, heart and skull with a mace and giving him three wounds with a sword. However, when he did so, vermin (snakes, insects and the like) emerged from the wounds, and the god Ormazd told him not to kill Dahāg, lest the world become infested with these creatures.
Furthermore, when Fereydun or Fredon rebelled, his Kingdom did as well. Finally, at the end of the world, Dahaka is a central figure in a prophecy in which he will burst from his bonds and kill one in 3 men and livestock, bringing destruction down on the world.
So, you might be asking, what does this have to do with Pendor? Well, with the efficiency and stubbornness like that of a conspiracy theorist, I will elaborate.
First: Azi Dahaka means Azi (Snake or Dragon) and Dahaka (Stinging, Burning, Manlike). The two other heads of Dahaka are snakes that have to be fed with human brains..much like the Azi Dahaka of Pendor, the Snake Goddess who probably has as many heads as she wants. The daevas that Dahaka rule with are mystical beings with superior strength and cunning, like demons or stuff. Kind of like Anaconda Warriors.
Second: The Pishdidian dynasty united quarreling tribes and made a prosperous kingdom. Like Pendor. The rulers had a divine right, and when one of them lost it (either through death or ill will) the successor to the kingdom was lost. Dahaka ended up finding Freydon as a simple herder in the fields, and when he found out his royal heritage, he rebelled along with parts of the Kingdom. he united the Kingdom and defeated Dahaka. (A mix of the plots of PoP 3 and upcoming 4?) Freydon was said to have the divine right from birth. Like the heir or the king! When he imprisoned Dahaka, he did it on a huge mountain. (Ashenborn Empire anyone?)
Third: The end of the world prophecy sounds like the Red Plague!
What does this mean? It means that obviously, the Iranian archaeologists were covering up Pendor when they discovered the history of it, and instead made a fake version which we now accept as real history, and saxondragon mysteriously located the real history.
Plus, Pishdidian begins with a P like Pendor, and that definitely can't be a coincidence.

Edit: Erida Ocissor. More conspiracy time!
Erida is the companion of Ares. She's the Greek Goddess of hate. Ocissor is the latin word for killer/murderer.
Erida Ocissor. Hate Killer. Or Killer Hate.
