IC Scene - Tempest Bridge and Slums

"It is true knight.But getting out from the city with the unit of knight's when war is going on is too dangerous. We are much more suited for such operations, in fact it is our speciality." answered Gaspar.

Meanwhile gloves begun forming lose half circle around knight's, Rivatha was scouting for best way's to retreat or use enviroment in advantage of gloves.

Mattus looked around at the others. He hoped it would not come to a fight but the movement of his enemies showed otherwise. He gave his men a hand gesture and they moved a litte backwards to tighten their formation. Mattus was still certain that if they fought they would win but he hoped the leader of the group wouldn't be so foolish as to attack. He then looked at Gudr who just stood there silently.

"Do you even want to leave Gudr, or do you want to help Windholm free itself? If so we can help you. There is another group of the Radiant Cross inside the City and more are on the way."

He kept his gaze on Gudr, in the corner of his eyes he kept the leader of the others insight.

"You want Gudr to help city? Are you attempts to win him over really that pathetic? It is too dangerous, sooner or later one side will deem him to be an enemy, then he is going to be pursued and you know perfectly knight, neither of us, or even we together can protect him from an army." answered Gaspar even if word's weren't directed at him, after this Rivatha spoken.

"Getting out of city should be the priority for Gudrsoon and our detachment is best suited for such task, that's our offer. After this we may or may not cooperate, that depends on interests of both sides,should we not cooperate we will let you go. We are even willing to take one of these knight's with us as a guarantee for you, you may even discuss any possible cooperation with them, but i strongly suggest to do it after we leave this doomed place.Decision is up to you scholar."

The scholar wasn't paying any particular attention to the brewing standoff. Instead, he was chatting with Chamberlain Harold in Barclayan. They stopped finally, and Harold said, "Unfortunately, the Ebony Gauntlet are to be Gúdrusson's escorts."

"So it has been decided, best of luck to you Radiants." Said Gaspar and turned to go, Rivatha followed, other gloves were falling back as well yet they maintained their formation.

" think we are leaving you then you are wrong. We will make sure that Gudr is kept safe, maybe he will realize what the ebony Gauntlet is really up to."

Mattus and his men follow the other group close behind. They try to stay in cover but always close behind.

"Claiming our order is bad in some way is poor excuse you know. We are not claiming we are somewhat superior to you, but we are better fitting to the task at hand.

Please knight don't let your pride overcome a sane mind don't start with bitter words and childish actions like following us, you are above it, just go."

Said Gaspar.

Rivatha slightly smiled to herself, she teached Gaspar well, now she didn't need to talk much.

Then Rivatha approached Harold and Gudr, and started talking with them, silently enough so Radiant's wouldn't hear them.

"If you think you can hide Gudr and just walk past the guards an then out of this city you are wrong. The City is burning, with enemies within its walls, the gates and all exits are guarded, and your friends of the brotherhood have left as well. Your men are not made for fighting an enemy in open field. We will follow you no matter what."

Mattus and his men stood tall and proud, even then Gudr was still at least one head taller and not as lean or agile as the men of the Radiant Shield.

"You think we can't walk trough the guards when Chamberlain is with us?"

Mattus looked at the chamberlain, he eyed him closely from his eyes to his his feet.

"You think you can leave with him? His face speaks treason and he smells of fear. And you underestimate the Lady of Windholm, she surely has given orders to not let anyone leave the City without her permission. The road you want to take is blocked, the only way is by sea, the harbor is in control of the Rebels. What do you think is of more worth? Nine enemies of the Ebony Gauntlet dead in front of Lady Greysword or whatever you offered him, he will sell you the moment he has the chance."

He was such a nuisance Gaspar thought, he took a deep breath showing that he was tired of this, oh how he wanted to just be ably to kill him in few fast strokes, watch blood run from his neck... but lady is watching he must not fail her or else...

"I must admit your rhetoric's are impressive knight, you gave away your predictions and assumptions with such confidence... "

Gaspar took a step forward, following his next words with gestures.

"Still those are only assumptions. Your belief that we won't get out of the city safely or the idea that we want your death, while totally unreasonable, at least try advance your goals of having esteemed scholar on your side, don't you think that insulting fair chamberlain was to much? Start thinking knight, your pride is overtaking your sane mind."

Good, this one may live longer thought Rivatha

Mattis laughed even the Gauntlet talked.

"You would only be able to kill me if I was sleeping, you are trained in stealth and cunning but 2 or 3 throwing knives are not killing anyone in open battle. The adrenaline keeps them alive to reach you and crush through your defense. We will follow you no matter what, if you make it to the gates we will stay back, out of sight of any guardsmen, if you make it through then you have won. If not we will be there to safe Gudr and get him out of this City."

Mattus made only a short break and smiled when he continued.

"We can't vouch for your safety though."

"So immature.. can only think about killing and who is "wining" this. I see it is useless to reason with you knight, do you as wish." Gaspar then watched Rivatha whispering with with Chamberlain and Gudr, waiting for a result.

Gudr

"Gentlemen, ladies, please understand that I am foreign to the politics of Pendor - or your royal orders'. I admit that this conflict has surprised me. The grandmaster of my order did not expect this, and he is only rarely mistaken."

"But this I do understand: This city endangers my existence. I want to leave this city alive. Both of you promise that. If choosing one of you will be cause for conflict and delay, I choose both orders. This is my offer: both of you escort me and Chamberlain Harold safely outside, and then we will sit and talk about what is really important. What I bring you should have priority over whatever disagreement you may have. We will sit. You - he looks at Mattus- , you -he turns his head to Rivatha-,  and me. What do you say? You may use whatever tactics or escape strategies that you deem fit, but please hurry."

The scholar talked politely, but the tone of his voice and his body language made clear that he did not place much importance on any of the personalities present. He seemed distant, and the quarrels of Pendorians, order knights and Windholm citizens were to him as devoid of meaning as commoners are to a king walking in the market square. If anything, this only made his talk about "important matters" more serious.

"Thats what I was talking about, let's follow your plan then Gauntlet. Lets move to the gates and hope the chamberlain knows a way out."

Mattus turned to his men.

"Remove any order signs you might Carry on your person and cover the blades of your spears, we will move under cover. If anyone askes say you are the Guards of Gudr."

Mattus then looked at Rivatha.

Gaspar was slightly confused on what to do next, but one small, barely noticable hand sign from Rivatha was enough, she made sure radiant's didn't see it.

"Spread and scout path ahead for anything, chamberlain will explain the the route." He also ordered something with hand signs, it was rather obvious that he ordered gloves to closely watch radiant knight's.

"Very well. Lead on, royal knights."

The Chamberlain pointed to a turn in the street they were in and whispered that all should make haste to it. Meanwhile, Gudr joined the groups and started walking beside them. After the bend, as the street was becoming narrower, and consequently darker, Gudr addressed the squad leaders of both orders.

"Before we leave, do you think we could convince the Knights of the Griffon to join us? There is something I must ask them rather urgently, and it would make our future conversation so much easier. They are here, aren't they?"

"Getting out of the city won't be an easy task, as it is. Finding Griffon knight's in the burning city and talking to them without attracting attention.. knight's could watch out for them.." Rivatha said followed by Gaspar.

"Yes, i will order knight's to watch of out for any knight's of the Griffon and we will contact them should such opportunity arise. Searching for them trough the city however, is too dangerous, for all we know they may have lost the battle and now all are captured or dead."

"She is right, we first have to get you out of here. After that we can think about meeting the Griffons."

"Ah, pity.", said Gudrusson. "What do you suggest? Is going through the main gates that bad an idea? How many exits does this city have?" He looked at Harold, who, running in front of the group, could not notice the cue to talk.

"The northern Gate is closest to the slums so we should check it first. It might be in the hands of the Rebels and if thats the case we can get through. It seems my order has sided against the Duchess of Windholm. If that does not work we should make for the Harbor and get a ship out of here."

Vincent looked back south, even more columns of smoke were rising over the city.

"The main gate is too close to the Castle. I think these are our only options."

Chamberlain Harold stopped. Apparently, he had been hearing the conversation between the knights, but did not bother to join. Still panting, he stretched his arm and pointed to a terribly build shack.

"There. This is hidden storage of tools and hardwood, build for emergency repairs in case the main storage is destroyed. It is build close to gate to make surveillance easier. From there we just have to walk directly. Walk, not run. We have undercover guards instructed to shoot anyone running in this region. I hope you are ready."






OOC: you were already in the slums, so that was the most obvious choice for your characters, actually. Sorry if it wasn't clear.
OOC 2: I had a less orthodox one, but since I always complicate stuff this one is actually better.
OOC 3: will post in 25 unless you'd like to add something before that.

The Chamberlain was at the corner of the shack, half covered, staring intently at the gate. He looked back briefly to Gudr, then looked up. He straightened his back and began walking.

"Follow me."





OOC: Rivatha, let me know if you'd like to post something. If not, I'll keep going with the walk.

"Stop!" Rivatha said silently, Gaspar watched her and then said.

"Gentelmen her intuition rarely failed us, i suggest we wait for a few minutes here, while one of my knight's scouts some of path ahead."

Without waiting for an answer, one of gloves was ordered to carefully scout path ahead, second was going just few meters behind first one.
