Rumors had been flying about the attacks by a pair of knights in the main part of Torbah, south of the castle ruins. Their ambushes had heightened the state of alert by the horde, already on edge from five days before, to high levels. When the the sixth night settled on the land, they returned to their vigil.
Their overconfidence proved to be their undoing.
Seemingly failing to realize that the horde was very much aware of their presence and overestimating their own abilities, battle fell upon the two knights swiftly. Underestimating the strength of the Jatu, they were cornered at their ambush spot and slowly whittled down. Their troops were sturdy, but not enough to withstand the concerted efforts of dozens of opponents.
By morning, the battle was over. Harvey and Rose lay slain among their troops, many of whom were looted by the Jatu. Broken weapons lay about them and the air smelled of blood. They would have been disappointed to find out that their defense had failed to inflict many deaths on the Jatu that rode out to meet them the evening before.
